At Seaside, We Believe Gymnastics is About So Much More

At Seaside, we believe gymnastics is more than just handstands and cartwheels — it’s a powerful platform for building strong, confident kids both inside and out.

Through gymnastics, children learn valuable life skills that reach far beyond the gym. From commitment and time management to perseverance and self-discipline, these lessons shape character and lay the foundation for future success.

As they grow in the sport, gymnasts develop not only new skills, but also strength, muscular endurance, coordination, and spatial awareness — all while building confidence through progress and achievement.

Our mission at Seaside is to guide and inspire children to become physically strong, mentally resilient, and self-assured individuals — all through the joyful and challenging journey of gymnastics.

We are so glad you chose to join us!

Welcome to Seaside Training Center

We offer a complimentary trial class for every new student that wishes to attend classes at our facility! We have a little gift for each new trial as a way to say thanks for dropping in! Give us a call to schedule yours today!

Why Gymnastics?

A Smart Choice for Your Child’s Growth

As a parent, you want your child involved in something that builds more than just physical skill — and gymnastics does exactly that. It’s one of the most well-rounded activities for children of all ages, offering lifelong benefits that go far beyond the mat.

Here’s why gymnastics is such an important sport for growing kids:

  • Builds Total Body Strength – From core to coordination, gymnastics develops strong, balanced bodies in a fun and engaging way.
  • Improves Flexibility & Mobility – Helps prevent injury and supports healthy growth.
  • Boosts Gross Motor Skills – Especially beneficial for young children as they develop coordination, balance, and body awareness.
  • Teaches Focus & Discipline – Kids learn to listen, follow instructions, and persevere through challenges.
  • Builds Confidence – There’s nothing like the look on a child’s face when they master a new skill they once thought was impossible.
  • Promotes Goal Setting – Gymnastics encourages setting and achieving personal goals, building resilience, and pride in their progress.
  • Supports Social Growth – Group classes create opportunities to build friendships, learn teamwork, and grow in a positive, encouraging environment.

Gymnastics lays a foundation for success in all sports, and in life. It’s a powerful way to support your child’s physical, emotional, and social development, all while they’re having a blast.

Recreational Gymnastics FAQ

Why Do We Only Offer Girls Recreational Gymnastics?

Our goal is always to place every child in the program that best supports their success, safety, and long-term development. We love having boys in our preschool, tumbling, and parkour programs and are excited to continue helping them grow and thrive through movement and athletics.

“Isn’t gymnastics the same for boys and girls?”

Actually, no. Boys’ and girls’ artistic gymnastics are considered two different disciplines within the sport of gymnastics, each with different events, equipment, skill progressions, and training methods.

Girls’ gymnastics focuses on:

  • Balance beam
  • Uneven bars
  • Vault
  • Floor exercise

Boys’ gymnastics focuses on:

  • Rings
  • Pommel horse
  • Parallel bars
  • High bar
  • Vault
  • Floor exercise

Because the events are different, the coaching, drills, strength development, and equipment needs are also very different.

“Why can boys participate in preschool classes but not the girls’ recreational program?”

Our preschool program is co-ed because young children are learning foundational movement skills such as:

  • Coordination
  • Listening skills
  • Body awareness
  • Basic tumbling
  • Balance
  • Strength
  • Confidence

At these ages, children are not yet training gender-specific gymnastics events in detail. Preschool classes are focused on general motor development and introductory gymnastics fundamentals.

Once children turn 6 and move into beginner recreational classes, the curriculum becomes much more event-specific and follows traditional girls’ artistic gymnastics progressions. That is where the differences between boys’ and girls’ gymnastics become much more significant.

“Can boys still take classes here after preschool?”

Absolutely! Once boys age out of preschool, we offer great co-ed alternatives including:

  • Tumbling
  • Parkour

These programs continue building:

  • Strength
  • Coordination
  • Agility
  • Body control
  • Confidence
  • Athletic development

Many boys enjoy these classes because they provide a fast-paced, high-energy environment that still develops gymnastics-based skills.

“Why can’t boys just do the girls’ events?”

While some basic beginner skills may look similar at first, boys’ and girls’ gymnastics quickly develop into very different sports with different technique requirements and physical training goals.

For example:

  • Boys’ gymnastics places a much heavier emphasis on upper-body strength and swinging apparatus such as rings, high bar, and pommel horse.
  • Girls’ gymnastics places greater emphasis on flexibility, dance elements, beam work, and uneven bars.

As athletes progress, boys and girls train differently because their competitive pathways, required skills, and apparatus are not the same.

“Why don’t you offer boys recreational gymnastics?”

To safely and properly run a boys gymnastics program, gyms must have:

  • Specialized boys’ gymnastics equipment
  • Coaches specifically trained in boys’ artistic gymnastics
  • Proper progressions for boys’ events

At this time, we do not have the specialized equipment or coaching staff required to offer a quality boys’ artistic gymnastics program. Rather than offering a program that does not fully support proper development, we focus on providing the best experience possible in the programs we are equipped to teach successfully.

“Do boys benefit from gymnastics?”

Absolutely! Gymnastics is excellent for boys and helps develop:

  • Strength
  • Coordination
  • Flexibility
  • Speed
  • Body control
  • Confidence
  • Athletic ability for many sports

That’s one reason we love offering co-ed preschool, tumbling, and parkour opportunities for boys.
